Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 5 tbsp Heaping Tablespoons of shortening
  • ½ cup hot water

Instructions

  • Blend flour, salt, and baking powder with a fork
  • Cut in shortening
  • add hot water
  • Complete mixing the dough by hand and shape into a large ball
  • Let rest 5-10 minutes
  • Divide dough into 10 portions and shape into balls
  • Lightly flour surface if the dough is sticky
  • Roll each ball into a thin circle
  • Cook on a griddle over medium heat, approximately 1 minute
  • Then turn and cook for about 30 seconds on other side.
  • Do not overcook as the tortillas will get too hard.
