Ranchera Sauce

This is a hot sauce typically can be used in huevos (eggs) rancheros or tacos. It is quite a versatile sauce. Quite easy to make. 


  • 2 Cups Chopped Fresh Tomatoes
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped onions
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped hot green peppers Jalapenos or Serrano are good choices
  • 2 tbsp Shortening or oil
  • Salt to Taste
  • Pepper to taste


  • Saute the onions and peppers in shortening or oil until translucent
  • Add tomatoes and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes
